Diabetes Awareness Day 29th April 2017

Diabetes is a major problem in this area and we have 600 diabetics on our register alone.  There is a greater need for raising diabetes awareness in such a way that is more culturally and linguistically appropriate.

During our PPG (Patient Participation Group) meetings some of our patients have come forward to make their contribution and therefore, we held our first diabetes awareness event on Saturday 29 April 2017, which had a great turn out.

The event had food taster; volunteers made healthy food options which were easy to make and tasty and was offered to everyone at the event.

A big thank you to all the volunteers including; Diabetes UK, Diabetes & Endocrinology- Heartlands Hospital and Caroline Edwards- Diabetes Educational Nurse Facilitator and Farida.
